nathan started getting large bruises on him in the summer of 2009. and was getting tired and just not himself, he is a very active and outdoor kind of kid. we had never heard of the symptoms of aml before and had no idea it could be this. me and my husband were worried he had a bully hurting him although he insisted otherwise. the school also became concerned and questioned nathan and then me, of course i had no explanation i felt so scared i thought for sure they thought i was hurting him. then he started having stomach problems sevear diareah and blood so my father took him to the hospital they found a bacteria in his stomach but when i showed up i explained the unexplainable bruises and tiredness. they said nothing else about it except they were sending him to childrens in okc to get help i thought this was odd for a stomach illness but i think they knew he had something else. we were at childrens this was on 9-21-09 they ran so many tests for about two days all we knew for certain is he had kydney failure and the stomach virus. finally the doc took us all in a seperate room from nathan and told us the most horrifying thing that nathan has cancer, she explained what kind how it affected his body and what we needed to do to help him. after this everything was clear that i could not explain before the bruises, tiredness, legs hurting. the whole family showed up to suport him but me his dad and papa were hit hard emotionally, i still cry even now. i thought how can a 9 year old get cancer its not fair, but he saw me crying and told me " momma its ok i will take my medicine and i will be fine" he is so brave and strong and he is doing better now. we are in the hospital now on his third round of chemo and he has two more after this.
