Story
Kirin was born September 23, 2008. He was full of life since day one, always letting everyone know when he is up and awake. When Kirin was a young infant he would enjoy kicking the fish attached to his bouncy seat making them sing. When Kirin got a little older he enjoyed jumping for hours in his jumper moving his little legs nonstop. I don’t think Kirin ever learn to walk he went straight to running. He has always been a healthy boy other than some seasonal allergies and eczema.
June 14th, 2010 is a day we will never forget in our family that is the day Kirin was diagnosed with cancer. Kirin was just 19 months old and diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma, his mother had just graduated from high school two weeks earlier. We thought he was a fine and healthy boy, what we thought was a swollen limp node on his neck turned out to be a tumor that had spread in his little body. He had another tumor on his liver that caused some pressure on his spine giving Kirin a limp when he walked, again another missed sign, Kirin comes from a family full of bad feet.
This has not stopped Kirin he is still full of life. Kirin loves the outdoors and spends every minute he can outside playing. He enjoys the many trips to the Toledo Zoo to see his loved fish. We have a pond near our house and since he was an infant we have walked him down to see his fish and continue to this day feeding them every time. Kirin also has found a love for all the therapy dogs and gets very excited to see them at the hospital. Kirin lives with his mother, grandma, aunt, uncle, and family friend.
