Lesson Plan 4: History of a postage stamp

Objective:

Students will demonstrate an understanding about the history of a postage stamp by studying information in a time line.

Materials:

Procedure:

1. Introduce lesson by showing different stamps.
2. Discuss postage stamps by showing examples.  Discuss the details that you can find on a postage stamp such as price, country, and theme.
3. Hand out Worksheet 7 (or display on the smart board) and read the timeline together as a whole class.
4. Hand out Worksheet 8 and have students complete the crossword puzzle. If they need help, students can refer back to Worksheet 7.

Evaluation:

Check the answers to the crossword puzzle.
